Controversial cartoonist Zunar and four others, arrested on Saturday, are out today on police bail.
The five walked out of Dang Wangi police headquarters just after midnight on Sunday.
Zunar was picked up by police at a fundraising event with his fans at the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall (KLSCAH).
The other four detained and released are Zunar’s sales assistants Megat Abdul Wahid and Lawrence Jeyaraj, along with DAP member Jimmy Wong and another person, known as A. Toong.
The group’s lawyer Nicole Tan said Zunar, Megat and Lawrence were being investigated under Section 124c of the Penal Code for activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy.
Jimmy and Toong are being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant in the discharge of his duties.
The lawyer said all five had reserved their right to remain silent to the police questions.
Zunar, whose real name is Zulkiflee S.M. Anwarul Haque said that he did nothing wrong as the fundraiser was a private event with his fans.
The police have apparently told him that they would be applying for a court order to ban the books.
