Youth charged for promoting terrorism activities

Ahmad Faris 20, was charged today for his alleged involvement in terrorism activities.

A 20 year old youth was charged in Kuala Lumpur Magistrates Court today for promoting terrorism activities and in possession of terrorism related items.

For the first offence, Ahmad Faris, 20, was charged with knowingly promoting the commission of terrorist acts through a WeChat application with the name “Pak Kodi” and using  “mujahidin333” his as WeChat ID.

For the above offence, he was charged under Section 130G(a) of the Penal Code which provides an imprisonment for up to 30 years and is liable to fine, if found guilty

Ahmad Faris was also charged with possession of terrorism-related items, comprising a black shirt with Jawi writing on it and pictures associated with the Daesh militant group on an Ipad Mini at the same place at  10.45 am last Aug 29.

The second offence he was charged under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to seven years, or fine, and liable to forfeiture of the items concerned, if found guilty.

Both the offence was allegedly committed at a house at 16-0-2, Kelumpuk Teratai 16, Jalan 5/56 AU3, Keramat here, between June 9 and July 30 this year.

However, no plea was recorded after the charges were read out to the former air-condition technician before Magistrate Siti Radziah Kamarudin .

The court set Oct 28 for mention.
