The BMW Ruby Lee Poh Ai was driving crashed into a sports utility vehicle and came to a halt at the wall of a house.

A 49-year-old woman was shot dead while driving her BMW in a residential area in Sungai Dua, Penang on Tuesday, February 21.

The victim, identified as Ruby Lee Poh Ai, died from gunshot wounds in the chest in the close-range shooting at 5.45pm.

After being hit by bullets, the white BMW crashed into the back of sports utility vehicle and came to a halt at the wall of a nearby house.

Penang CID chief Senior Asst Comm Zainol Samah, when met at the scene, said two men on a motorcycle approached the car and the pillion rider opened fire.

“Our initial investigations showed that the victim was shot 10 times and 6 bullets hit her chest.

“She was not linked to any gang member and the case has nothing to do with gang activities,” he said.

Lee who lives in Alila Homes in Tanjung Bungah was not a Datin or Datin Seri.

Her body has been sent to Penang Hospital for a post-mortem.
