Police have arrested five people, including a woman, over the assault of a lorry driver at a condominium in Bukit Antarabangsa in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.
Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Mohamad Fuad Abdul Latiff said the five, in their 20s and 30s, were nabbed early Sunday in Selangor and Negri Sembilan, The Star Online reported.
“We have identified at least one or two more people involved in the incident.
“We know who their friends are, so I hope they will turn themselves in before we turn up at their houses,” he told a press conference after launching the annual Chinese New Year Ops Selamat for Selangor at Sunway Pyramid on Sunday.
State CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat confirmed that the five had been remanded for four days from today.
The assault attracted wide attention on social media after a video of it became viral recently.
DCP Mohd Fuad said the woman was involved in the assault although she was not seen in the video clip.
“Yes, we do not see her assaulting the victim in the video clip. But we have our reasons for her arrest as she is involved,” he said.
The video clip showed a group of men assaulting the lorry driver following an accident between a Mercedes Benz and a lorry on Jan 14.
