What is the big deal if someone not fluent in English asks Umno supreme council member Bung Moktar Radin.

Bung was responding to the critics who took a swipe against deputy prime minister Zahid Hamidi’s speech at United Nations general assembly.

He added that there are other great world leaders who are well respected, despite not speaking English.

Bung even referred that there are some DAP leaders who even can’t speak proper Bahasa Malaysia.

On a Facebook posting yesterday, Perlis mufti Asri Zainul Abidin said that a just leader is more important than one who is proficient in English.

He justified that although English is important at international level, the focus should be the leader who care for the people.

Proficiency of Malay language is more important for a leader in our context added Asri.
