GEORGE TOWN: Police are investigating a molest case in which the suspect is allegedly a DAP branch leader.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Anuar Omar however did not confirm when asked if the said man was a DAP member after a social media post went viral last night which repeatedly mentioned the involvement of a DAP man in the case.
Asst Comm Anuar only confirmed that the case was being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault or use of criminal force to a person with intent to outrage modesty.
“The suspect will be called in to give his statement today,” said Anuar in a police WhatsApp group.
In a post that has gone viral since last night, it was claimed that the man had allegedly made sexual advances to a waitress at a car park in Lebuh Pantai, George Town on Thursday night.
In her police report lodged the following day, the waitress had alleged that the man had also tried to force her to perform oral sex on him, which she refused.
The post which has since been making its rounds on several blogs, alluded that the man, a former councillor with the Penang Island City Council (MBPP), headed a village development and security committee (JKKK) in the Bukit Gelugor constituency.
It is also learnt that the man is a special aide to the Paya Terubong DAP state assemblyman.
According to the woman’s police report, she had earlier followed the man, who was said to be intoxicated to the car park of a night entertainment outlet at about 11.30pm to get his car. He then proceeded to hug and kiss her.
He had then allegedly touched her private parts and later forced her to perform oral sex on him.
The man later had apparently offered her between RM500 and RM700 to “spend the night”, which she also refused and asked him to release her.
When contacted, Bukit Gelugor Member of Parliament Ramkarpal Singh said he did not know of the identity of the man.
