KAJANG: “This is the real Kajang Move that benefits the rakyat.”

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said this today, stressing that the launch of the second phase of Mass Rapid Transit’s (MRT) Sungai Buloh – Kajang (SBK) line is a move that benefits the rakyat.

Najib was speaking outside the Kajang Stadium after he earlier launched the second phase of the SBK line at the Tun Razak Exchange station in Kuala Lumpur.

He said the mega project was completed ahead of schedule and the rakyat can now enjoy world class infrastructure.

“I am personally satisfied with the launch of MRT’s second phase because I realise this is a collective effort,” he said.

Meanwhile Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government minister Tan Sri Noh Omar said those in Selangor particularly should be thankful to the Federal Government for providing such facilities.

He pointed out that a majority of the MRT stations are located in Selangor, a testament that the Federal Government understood the needs of the rakyat.

“We are not like the Selangor government, they prioritise political development over development for the rakyat,” he said.

With regards to Najib’s use of the popular political phrase ‘The Kajang Move’, Noh voiced his full support, saying that the prime minister has fulfilled the government’s promise to the rakyat by providing them with world class facilities.

‘Kajang move’ is in reference to the phrase that was widely used several years ago during an attempt to unseat then Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim by former Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

However, Anwar was sentenced to prison for sodomy, thus disqualifying him from standing as a candidate in the Kajang state seat by-election.

The by-election was necessitated following the resignation of Kajang assemblyman, PKR’s Lee Chin Cheh.

PKR President Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail was then named as the party’s candidate for the by-election, afterwhich she won against Barisan Nasional’s (BN) Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun. – MO
