Non-Muslims should not be afraid or worried on the Private Member’s Bill to amend the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act as it does not affect them at all says Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Zahid said there is no intention to upset the non-muslims but they should respect as the law is for Muslims.
He also told the detractors to fully understand before making any remarks.
The proposed amendments to Act 355 were not about hudud, chopping off hands or caning, he added.
It was merely to enhance and improve the standards of the syariah courts.
Zahid said he was open to more discussions to resolve the issue and the briefing to Muslim MPs in Parliament on Tuesday was initially tensed but later with detailed explanation they got the clear picture.
