Sunway Carnival Mall and Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya’s annual Chinese New Year visit to the elderly of Rumah Sejahtera Permatang Tinggi, Bukit Mertajam is a welcomed event.

Sunway group celebrates the cheer of New Year by hosting a special reunion lunch on the tenth day of Chinese New Year.

Sunway Carnival Mall’s general manager, Chow Heng Wah said that this was the sixth reunion lunch organised by the group to bring cheer to the elderly residents of the home.

“Chinese New Year is all about spending time, giving and sharing with family. We hope our presence there will make the seniors feel that we are part of their big family,” he said.

Sunway Hotel Georgetown and Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya’s general manager, K. Prakash was very touched to see the warm response of the seniors when he joined the Sunway team to visit.

“This is my first time joining the team and I hope that we will continue this meaningful reunion tradition every year to spread the good cheer,” he added.

For this special occasion, a traditional ‘Yee Sang’ dish of julienned vegetable and raw fish is served to elderly in hope that they will brim over with love and happiness and blessed with longevity.

During the lunch about 70 elderly residents of the home were entertained by a Chinese Orchestra and with a traditional dance performance.

The “God of Prosperity” made his appearance to distribute ‘ang pows’ to the elderly.

Goodie bags filled with mandarin oranges and other festive goodies were distributed.
