MIC president S Subramaniam brokered a peace deal with Umno supreme council member Nazri Aziz to avoid any disparaging remarks that could be divisive to Barisan Nasional (BN).
Today morning before the weekly cabinet meeting, Subra met Nazri to express his unhappiness over the statement issued.
Last week, Nazri issued a statement stating MCA, MIC and Gerakan are weak for using ‘parachute candidate’ and not a match to Umno which left the other component party leaders to fume.
“It’s very unfortunate some disparaging remarks have been passed and has hurt the feelings of MIC grass root leaders.
“While active positive political dialogue is welcomed, we should avoid ugly situations which could be divisive to the spirit of BN.
“It has been my stand that BN leaders should avoid such situations which will create unnecessary tension amongst BN component parties and should uphold the principle of mutual respect to each other.” said Subra.
Subra has asked his party members to remain calm and restraint from the situation.
