Stop the ‘nonsensical CNY drama’, MCA tells Opposition

 |Feb 1, 2017

MCA Youth chief Chong Sin Woon trained his gun against the opposition for allegedly politicising Chinese New Year for their personal agenda.

Chong slammed Seputeh MP Teresa Kok for her Chinese New Year video titled “Tangkap Ayam”.

Amanah communications director Khalid Samad, PKR’s Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli and Anwar Ibrahim’s daughter Nurul Nuha also featured in the video.

He also chided pro-opposition supporters claiming the lion dancers at the Gerakan Chinese New Year open house last Saturday had refused to dance in front of Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor.

Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang has clarified that the dancers were peeling a pomelo and some oranges to be presented to the special guests to denote prosperity.

“It is common for lion dancers to peel oranges (during the dance routine), but these people are saying that the dancers had refused to dance in front of the Prime Minister,’’ Chong told a press conference at SJK(C) Khee Beng in Jalan Bukit Kemuning here on Tuesday, reported by The Star Online.

He said the Chinese community wanted a peaceful new year instead of festivities filled with political manoeuvrings.

Chong said that even in Chinese history, new year is a time of peace and even war stops for the celebrations.

“We have enough political issues all year round. When it comes to the new year, can you let us celebrate it peacefully?

“I urge all these clowns to stop this nonsensical drama,” he said.
