Was Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng lying when he blamed PKR for scrapping his idea to hold a snap state election?
Penang Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Teng Chang Yeo said based on BN observation, Guan Eng had cooking up stories over the snap poll fiasco.
Guan Eng has previously claimed that he was calling off the snap poll because the DAP could not agree with PKR request for two more state seats.
However, Teng pointed out that PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail had said loud and clear that seats allocation wasn’t the issue in opposing the snap poll.
“Whenever Guan Eng has a chance, he would blame others especially BN, in order to put himself in a good light.
“But his attempt this time to put the blame on PKR has backfired.
“The PKR president had spoken about it,” said Teng in a statement on Tuesday.
“Only one person is telling lies in Pakatan Harapan over the snap poll.
“The answer is clear and loud as we believe that Wan Azizah is telling the truth!
“So, is Guan Eng lying? Can he and his words be trusted?”
Teng said Guan Eng’s attack that Umno and Penang Gerakan had failed to reach consensus unlike Pakatan Harapan was a manifestation of his desperate attempt to cover his own failure in Pakatan Harapan.
He said Guan Eng had always portrayed DAP as a dominant force in Pakatan Harapan.
At the same breath, Teng said Guan Eng created the same perception for Penang Umno, but not Penang Gerakan.
“As a matter of fact, we have all these while believed that DAP was a butler in Pakatan Harapan.
“DAP creates the perception that it has power but in reality, the party has no real power,” said Teng.
He said Umno and Penang Gerakan do not have to come to consensus on matters of perception.
He said Penang Gerakan was not bound by what Penang Umno had to think, unlike DAP.
The snap poll episode proved that DAP had to bow to PKR despite having the most state seats in Penang.
Teng said DAP leaders had now revealed to the public that DAP was never consulted in the infamous PKR’s Kajang Move and the replacement of Selangor Menteri Besar by PKR.
Also, he noted that DAP was never consulted by PAS when the latter was in Pakatan Harapan over PAS’s intention to table the hudud law.
“These were all done despite DAP having the most seats in Pakatan Harapan!” rebuked Teng.
“So who is subservient to who? DAP is subservient to its allies, PKR and before that PAS.
“All these revelations by DAP leaders themselves also confirmed that DAP is a butler in Pakatan Harapan!”
