DARO: Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Abang Johari Openg has assured the people that he will guide new leaders in the tradition of Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) in taking over the leadership of the party in the future.
He said the tradition was implemented by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud when the latter was chief minister.
“As the Malay proverb goes, people come and people go. One day somebody else will replace us and we remain steadfast with the PBB culture which always gives importance to the will of the people,” he said at an Aidilfitri open house at Tapak Pesta Daro here, yesterday.
Abang Johari said he would continue with the policies of former chief minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem who brought big victory to PBB and Barisan Nasional (BN), winning 72 out of 82 seats during the 11th state election last year.
In the meantime, he expressed his pride that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had recognised Sarawak as an exemplary state in the country in terms of strengthening solidarity among the people of various races and religions.
“When we are strongly united, leaders can concentrate on developing the areas they represent,” he said. – Bernama
