Prime Minister’s wife Rosmah Mansor is conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award for Leadership in Early Childhood Education by The World Chinese Economic Summit (WCES).
WCES chairman Michael Yeoh speaking at the special conferment ceremony at Hilton Kuala Lumpur today said that the committee is proud to confer the prestigious award to Rosmah towards her contribution to advance and upgrade early childhood education in the country.
“We have marvelled at the great strides of Permata, Rosmah as the patron has made in promoting and developing early childhood education has today been recognised as a key leader in this field and help up internationally as a role model for early childhood education.
“We not only honour her for her leadership in early education but also for her multifarious roles as a loving wife, devoted mother, homemaker and woman leader.
“Her contributions to the Girl Guides, Bakti and other women organisations make Rosmah a leadership icon and inspiration to many,” said Yeoh.
The Lifetime Achievement Awards presented every year by WCES is selected by an international advisory council with members from Britain, Switzerland, Germany, Australia, USA, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia chaired by Khoo Kay Peng, Chairman of the MUI Group and Laura Ashley Plc UK.
The WCES now in its 8th year has brought thousands of participants from China, Southeast Asia, Europe, Australia and the Chinese global diaspora to promote closer linkages with China and the overseas Chinese.
Past recipients of the WCES awards include Indonesian president Bambang Susilo Yudhoyono, Prime Minister Najib Razak, HRH Prince Andrew Duke of York, first Asian elected as Lord Mayor of Melbourne and Chinese billionaire Jack Ma as well as former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.
