The Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM) targets to receive 4.2 million taxpayers forms through e-Filing for the 2016 assessment year.

Its chief executive officer Sabin Samitah said the projection was an increase of 2.4% from the previous assessment year.

“I advise taxpayers to submit their forms earlier to enable us to process the refund immediately if thay have a credit with IRBM,” he told reporters after launching the ‘Fit HASiL’ programme yesterday.

The second edition of the programme is organised as part of the HASiL Day celebration on March 1 and aimed at supporting the government’s policy to adopt a health lifestyle among IRBM employees.

He said it was also to prevent congestion on the system if taxpayers were to submit their forms at the last minute.

However Sabin assured that IRBM had made preparations in terms of enhancing system capacity to allow taxpayers to submit their forms online without facing any problems.

The e-Filing facility is a free application provided by IRBM to make it easier for taxpayers to complete, calculate and submit their income tax return forms (ITRF) electronically through internet.
