The Red Shirts group has submitted a notice to the police to hold a counter-demonstration against Bersih 5 at Dataran Merdeka said Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar.
He revealed that the notice was submitted to City police chief Commissioner Amar Singh Ishar Singh.
Cops would be calling in the Red Shirts organisers to discuss their intention of holding the demonstration, pointed out Khalid.
Khalid said the police will check whether the Red Shirts movement has obtained permission from the venue owner.
He said at least Red shirt has given a notice, but the other group (Bersih) has not given any notice to demonstrate.
We have been telling Bersih to submit their application but till today never done so, added Khalid.
Any demonstrators should notify the police as stipulated under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 provisions, pointed out Khalid.
On another matter, Khalid dismisses the claims that the police are not taking any action against demonstrations staged by Bersih supporters and the Red Shirts group.
If the police did not take any action, the situation could be even worse, he added.
