Pribumi party deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir and DAP leader Lim Kit Siang urged to make a statutory declaration if the duo have no political ambitions to become prime minister and deputy prime minister respectively.
In making his statement today in Kuala Lumpur, social activist Tunku Abdul Aziz said Mukhriz and Kit Siang have their right to sue him if they had openly made a statutory declaration each to show disinterest in the position and honesty in political life.
“How can Mukhriz and Kit Siang blame people like me and countless others for drawing the inevitable conclusion about their secret political ambitions when they themselves have persistently refused to name the chairman and deputy chairman of the Pakatan alliance and yet proclaim they want to rule this country.
“A little more transparency is called for in order to assure the Malay voters that they are not being misled and deceived about the Lim factor.
“You can hardly blame people for assuming the worst because Pakatan Harapan has refused time and time again to name the chairman and deputy chairman of the opposition pact.
“The people have every right to ask the reason for such evasiveness. Are the key players hiding something sinister from the Malays whose votes they are after, to realise their Putrajaya dream,” Tunku Abdul Aziz said.
Tunku Abdul Aziz also emphasised that the duo are shaken to the core by the fact that their secret machinations have come unstuck and indeed been derailed and in tatters.
The political compact hatched by Mahathir and Kit Siang are now an open secret, out there in the public domain in full public view, Tunku Abdul Aziz said.
“It has become obvious to many that Mukhriz-the prime in waiting and Kit Siang – the DPM in the making are so traumatised by recent revelations of the secret understanding, which they are on a suing rampage.
“I am naturally surprised that he should have chosen to silence me with legal action and all I tried to do was to share the information given by an impeccable and unimpeachable source which I believed then as I believe now, to be considerable public interest in view of the enormity of the potential fallout from this secret understanding and its impact on the Malay political psyche and Malaysian body politic,” he added.
On top of that Tunku Abdul Aziz said If he (Mukhriz) denied the assertions made by the former, then why involve a third-party whose identity in all the circumstances honour and duty-bound to protect and he alone should be held primarily accountable for the actions.
Mukhriz responded to Tunku Abdul Aziz’s press statement issued on Dec 30, 2016, in which the latter claimed Mahathir Mohamad and Kit Siang had reached a secret agreement that in the event of Pakatan Harapan winning the next general election (GE14), Mukhriz would become prime minister with Kit Siang as his deputy.
Mukhriz urged Tunku Abdul Aziz to reveal his source or else face legal action.
