The police will not continue to investigate into a report lodged by Umno Youth vice chief Khairul Azwan Harun over a conspiracy to topple Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.

As reported by The Star online the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar said police did not find any proof to the allegation, but was made solely based on assumptions.

The IGP added that Khairul might have heard or read the news elsewhere which prompted him to file a report.

Khalid advised not to simply lodge police report if can’t provide evidence on an allegation.

Last week, Khairul lodged a police report against former attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail, former Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz and former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner Abu Kassim Mohamed.

In his report made at Dangi Wangi police station claimed that the three former top civil servants were suspected to be involved in a conspiracy to topple Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak administration.
