Umno Youth deputy chief Khairul Azwan Harun claimed that his police report had helped to derail an attempt to topple the Prime Minister.

He told reporters on Wednesday that his act was to protect Umno president and Barisan Nasional chairman Najib Tun Razak’s leadership.

“We acted based on our responsibility and we carried out our responsibility. I have a basis to lodge a police report.

“Most importantly, we have successfully defended Najib’s leadership,” said Khairul.

He continues to defend that the police report was not based on a false statement.

The police report claimed that three former top civil servants were involved in a conspiracy to topple the Prime Minister.

On Tuesday, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar said the police will not continue to investigate into a report lodged by Khairul.

IGP pointed out that the police did not find proof to the allegation to topple the Prime Minister, but was made solely on assumptions.
