Police detain man who drove against traffic flow

Police have detained a 29-year-old man who drove his Perodua Myvi against the flow of traffic at KM34, North-South Expressway, northbound near the Kulai R & R, yesterday.

Johor police chief Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said the man from Pasir Gudang here was detained when he came to the Kulai District Police Headquarters (IPD), traffic division at 1.10am to assist in the investigation into a video recording that had gone viral on social media.

“The man’s oral statement was recorded and he admitted driving the car alone,” he said in a statement in Johor Bahru, today.

Wan Ahmad Najmuddin said the man was being held at Kulai IPD and police would bring him to the magistrate’s court today to obtain a remand order.

The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, for driving recklessly and dangerously. – Bernama
