PKR has issued a warning against party vice president Darell Leiking for allegedly insulting the Selangor royal institution.
PKR deputy president D Azmin Ali said the action was taken to ensure that all allegations and matters are discussed together among party members, not out in the open.
“On behalf of the party, we have taken action during the last two weeks by issuing a warning so that these matters be discussed within the party to obtain clarifications and not make public accusations,” he said on Wednesday.
Azmin, the Selangor Menteri Besar, said the party would leave the matter to police investigation.
On July 7, Leiking in a Facebook post had allegedly made a reference to the Selangor Islamic Religious Department’s (Jais) sermon on the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, which seemingly supported the tabling of the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act Amendment Bill 2016 in Parliament.
The Penampang MP had allegedly said, “It is beginning to look like the extremists are running the State of Selangor.”
Sungai Panjang assemblyman Budiman Mohd Zohdi slammed Azmin for being hypocritically silent over the issue.
Zohdi also expressed disappointment against Selangor House Speaker Hannah Yeoh for dismissing his motion on the grounds that the remarks by Leiking were now under police investigation.
