Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak urged Malaysians to become active citizens to drive the country’s success.

He said every Malaysians should play their role in determining the direction the country is heading and not to merely rely on other people’s effort.

“We should not be ‘passengers’ in our own country, but to become active participants in determining the country’s direction, so that we get to enjoy the country’s wealth together,” he told reporters when met after the National Day parade at Dataran Merdeka here today.

On today’s National Day celebration, Salleh, who is 2016 National Day and Malaysia Day celebration Main Committee chairman, said he is satisfied with how the event went and praised all quarters for their cooperation in making it a success.

“Alhamdulillah, we thank the security forces for ensuring the safe and peaceful condition,” he added.

He also praised the harmonious spirit displayed by the crowd at the event, saying that their presence proved that Malaysians loved their country and to together celebrate the historic day.
