Parliament speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia today claimed that he knew of the opposition’s plan to stage a walkout a day before the Budget 2017 tabled on Friday afternoon.
Pandikar told the parliament house that it looks like he’s the one who kicked out the opposition lawmakers, but the truth is he had knowledge of their walkout prior to that day.
“Don’t play games with me. Play games between you politicians.”
Asked on what he had meant by “games”, he said the walkout was “just a matter of timing.”
“Do you all think that I cannot hear anything? Messages came to me that there would be a walkout.
Just before that revealing about the walkout, Pandikar was involved in a heated dialogue with DAP Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo when the latter questioned him on disallowing debates regarding the United States Department of Justice civil complaint on 1MDB.
Gobind was trying to push for the 1MDB matter to be heard, despite earlier clarification by Pandikar calling it ‘sub judice’ to discuss any matters pending in court.
However later Gobind apologised to Pandikar for keep repeating on the 1MDB issue and denied any ill-intentions towards the speaker.
On Friday, the opposition lawmakers staged a walkout when Prime Minister Najib Razak spoke openly about some detractors trying to destroy the good works done by the government.
This made the opposition lawmakers to walk and showed placards “Who is MO1”.
PAS lawmakers refused to join the walk out.
Barisan Nasional MPs including Najib slammed the opposition MPs to be rude and unprofessional when the Budget 2017 tabled.
