“I consulted a few individuals on the authenticity of these documents and I was informed that these were false allegations.” said Armand who is also a former Perkasa member.
Armand, a former Perkasa member, claims that he only knew yesterday that the documents that he received as evidence to prove funding of a conspiracy against PM Najib was “fake”.

Umno Youth national exco member Armand Azha Abu Hanifah did not lodge police reports today against two tycoons who he claimed had funded a movement to oust Prime Minister Najib Razak.

The reason, he claimed was that the evidence in his possession was fake, hence decision to abort plans to lodge police reports against tycoons Robin Tan and Tooi Kooi Ong.

‘The documents I received on Sunday are believed to be fake,” the former Perkasa member told reporters outside Dang Wangi police station in Kuala Lumpur.

“So being a responsible citizen who believes in upholding democratic responsibilities, I have decided not to lodge reports against these two individuals.

“I consulted a few individuals on the authenticity of these documents and I was informed that these were false allegations.”

However, he did not elaborate the origin of the nine page documents and their contents, neither he revealed those individuals who verified the authenticity of the documents.

He warned all those ‘unseen hands’ who had been maneuvering to oust Prime Minister Najib to use a proper channel like the 14th General Election (GE14) to achieve their objectives through democratic means.

“Don’t use street rallies, slanders and lies to oust our democratically elected prime minister.

“We have other means and resources such as the coming GE14. Use proper channels. We Umno youth will not sit and watch all these dirty tricks,” he warned.

He rubbished allegations by prominent blogger and political critic Raja Petra Kamaruddin on that he was a Perkasa member and was following orders from former Premier Mahathir Mohamad to lodge the aborted police reports, adding that he left Perkasa in 2010.

“I’ve been with Umno since 1995 and Perkasa was only formed in 2008.

“Yes, I did join Perkasa and when I was told to choose between Umno and Perkasa, I choose Umno due to my truthfulness towards the party,” he said.

“His (Raja Petra) assumptions are based on hearsay and perception, and since I believe in freedom of speech, he is free to pen down his opinion,” said Armand Azha.

Armand is the second Umno Youth leader who has alleged the existence of a purported plot to topple Najib.

In July this year, Umno Youth vice chief Khairul Azwan Harun filed a report against ex-Bank Negara Governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz, former Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail and former Malaysian Anti-Corruption (MACC) Chief Commissioner Abu Kassim Mohamed.

Khairul Azwan accused them them of furnishing classified information to foreign agencies without authorisation, in order to oust Najib.

However, Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said that Azwan’s report was based on assumptions and did not further investigate the report.
