The Selangor state government said it is treating the fireworks display mishap that wounded 14 people seriously and vowed not to hide any form of negligence that had resulted in the accident.

Exco for Local Government, New Village Development and Legalising of Illegal Factories, Ean Yong Hian Wah said the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) has been instructed to investigate the matter.

“MPK has been directed to carry out its internal investigations transparently and determine the cause or party responsible for the accident. The state government will not hide any negligence and will take disciplinary or legal action against those responsible for the mistake.

“Directives have also been issued to all local authorities in Selangor to appoint certified organisers. These certified organisers must fulfill all conditions imposed by the related local authority when a fireworks display is taking place,” said Ean Yong today.
