While Gerakan has clarified yesterday that there was no such thing as a protest involving a lion dancer at the party’s Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration last Saturday, a new video released further confirms their explanation.

Gerakan Youth chief Tan Keng Liang posted a video on his Facebook page today, in which it shows the lion dance performance in front of Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor from a different angle.

In an earlier video of which part of it showed the lion dancer bowed down to the ground in front of Najib, a pro-Mahathir Mohamad political blog shared it, claiming that, “It looks like a protest. ‘We will not perform for you’.”

In the video shared by Tan, the lion was seen dancing, and then picking up a tray of fruits to be presented to Najib.

“See the attached video (at the end) where the Lion Dancer presented the pomelo and oranges to PM Najib Razak after peeling them,” Tan said.

“Shame on the Opposition who chose to attack the Lion Dance troupe at Gerakan CNY Open House. They are not in politics. Why the spins & lies on them? Why victimize them?” he further asked.

Malaysia Outlook yesterday spoke to Ivanpal Singh Grewar who said there was a simple explanation to the whole thing, and it wasn’t a protest.

The political secretary to Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong said the lion was bowed down to the ground because it was peeling a special fruit after having performed the dance in front of the VIP guests.
