Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak made a surprise visit to ‘Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia’(KR1M) in Kelana Jaya LRT station today afternoon.
Arriving at 3.30 pm, Najib made a routine check up on the prices as well as purchasing grocery for his own usage.
Spotted by Malaysia Outlook, Najib on his own made the selection of items to be purchased.
Among the items purchased are packet of noodles, Milo, box of eggs and milk powder.
After making the payment, he compared the price with other shops and reiterated KR1M provides a better and affordable price for the people.
Najib later told the reporters that he will increase more KR1M shops to allow the people purchase daily necessity items with a cheaper rate.
At the moment KR1M has 175 stores nationwide.
KR1M is a shop operating on a mini market format, which provides various basic necessities at low prices.
This initiative was inspired by Prime Minister himself on his concerns for the low income citizens located in the urban areas.
The store will give emphasis on products manufactured by Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (SME), hence acting as a platform for the government’s continuous support to increase, enhance and expand SMEs’ products manufacturing capacity as well as sales.
The first store is located at Kelana Jaya LRT station, operating from 7am till 10pm.
