Mukhriz, Kit Siang urged to make statutory declarations

Mukhriz Mahathir - Lim Kit Siang

Mukhriz Mahathir and Lim Kit Siang need to make statutory declarations that they are not the secret candidates for the posts of prime minister and deputy prime minister respectively if the opposition won in the coming general election.

Umno Youth deputy chief Khairul Azwan Harun, in urging this, added that he was interested by the duo’s attempts to divert the people’s attention with regards to the claims made by former DAP national vice-chairman Tunku Abdul Aziz over the matter.

Last week, Tunku Abdul Aziz claimed that DAP and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia had entered into a secret pact to make Mukhriz the PM and Kit Siang the DPM if Pakatan Harapan captured Putrajaya in GE14.

“The explanation by Tunku Aziz may have basis,” said Khairul in a statement.

Khairul added that Mukhriz had urged Tunku Aziz to provide the identities of the whistleblowers while Kit Siang had said that the secret meeting on Dec 3, 2016 did not happen.

“Whatever their story to cover the plan, I am of the opinion that the two need not pretend and be childish. As politicians, they surely have big ambitions.”
