MELAKA: A housewife has alleged that the headmistress of a school in Alor Gajah near here caned her eight-year-old daughter until she bled.
TheStar Online reported the 38-year-old mother complaining that the schoolgirl’s back was bleeding profusely when she came home after school on June 22.
“I went to the school the same day to seek an explanation from the headmistress but she refused to reply and was rude to me,” she told the English news portal.
The woman who decided to lodge a police report yesterday, alleged that several people approached her to withdraw her report and even offered to pay her daughter’s medical expenses. However, she refused to do so.
“I am a housewife and my husband is an odd-job labourer but we have dignity and can’t be bought with money,” she was reported to have said, adding that her daughter has since refused to go to school.
The news portal reported that Alor Gajah OCPD Supt A. Asmadi Abd Aziz said investigations had been initiated.
“We will pass the investigation papers to the deputy public prosecutor.”
Meanwhile State Education, Higher Learning, Science and Green Technology Committee chairman Datuk Wira Md Yunos Husin was reported to have said the state Education Department would be lodging a report against the headmistress.
He also said this was not the first time a complaint had been made against the headmistress.
