A minor landslide occurred on the Cameron Highlands-Tapah road blocking access near Bharat Tea plantations in Tanah Rata today due to heavy rain.

Cameron Highlands Fire and Rescue Station chief, Muhamad Haziq Hazmi said no one was trapped in the landslide.

Firemen used a chainsaw to remove tree branches that collapsed on to the road during the landslide.

In an earlier incident, a total of 18 occupants were evacuated after a landslide at about 3.11 pm in Tanah Rata damaging Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) bungalow known as the ‘The Sharples’.

Four cars were also damaged in the incident but no casualties were reported.

Muhamad Haziq said the station was informed by the Public Works Department that work to repair the slope could only be done after obtaining approval from TNB, as the owner of the property.
