The government is taking every measure to control the foreign labour percentage of the total workforce targeting by year 2020.
Human Resources Minister Richard Riot at parliament said that the government is looking at a rate of 15% to cap foreign labour.
He was responding to a question by Temerloh Pas lawmaker Nasrudin Hassan.
Richard said there are 1.9 million documented foreign workers in Malaysia based on government statistics.
However, there is an estimated 40% foreign labour workforce undocumented which the government is taking the necessary steps to reduce.
His ministry is focusing on training Malaysians to achieve more local skilled workforce that will reduce the dependency of foreign labour.
