Komtar MCA working task force chief Tan Hing Teik has slammed Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for putting up political confrontation attitude and sacrifice the lives of the people over the matter to disallow Automatic Enforcement System (AES) installed in the state by the Transport Ministry.

According to Tan he highlighted that “AES is a precautionary measure for driving motorists to reduce traffic accidents caused by reckless driving. Since Guan Eng is against AES, does he imply that everyone can be reckless driving and ignores the safety on the road? Does he encourage people to disregard for human life?”

Tan highlights that Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) chairman Lee Lam Thye said the aim of the AES is to educate road users to comply with traffic regulations and the survey conducted by MIROS proves that AES has effectively reduced the death toll from speeding and beating traffic light offences since it was installed.

“This is the expert’s research report and general public’s common sense. Does Lim Guan Eng’s common sense differ from the general public?”

“He said the Malaysian car accident rate has been high, even increasing year by year. The main reason is the driver’s attitude. And AES will effectively curb the deterioration of the situation.

“However, Lim Guan Eng even brutally refuses to allow the Transport ministry to install AES in Penang, showing his ignorance of self-willed, which is also his abuse of public power.” added Tan.

The determination of Malaysian government to strengthen law enforcement is a good thing. But Lim Guan Eng discredited it as a bad thing. He thinks people are fools. Turned out, he has become a joke to the people, stressed Tan.

Tan added the arrogant political attitude of Guan Eng not only will ruin him, but will also destroy the entire Penang state.

“Penangites have to be careful and rethink carefully whether they can accept such a distasteful chief minister in the future.”
