The police will enhance security and the preparedness of their personnel during Malaysia Day celebrations on Friday, says Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar.

“Whether it is a threat from the Daesh group of militants or other quarters, we will not tolerate them,” he said after attending the Ibadah Korban dan Aqiqah programme (Bukit Aman-level) here today.

Meanwhile on the status of the kidnapping case in Pom-Pom Island on Sept 11, Khalid said the police were in the midst of investigating the matter.

He declined to elaborate.

On Sunday, three fishing boat crew members were kidnapped in the waters off Pom-Pom Island, Semporna, Sabah.

The kidnapping was believed to have been masterminded by a group, Kidnap For Ransom.
