MIC Youth demands apology from Mahathir Mohamed for using the ‘Keling’ word in a video clip circulated in social media

Former prime minister Mahathir Mohamed showed his true colours by calling Indians “keling” says MIC Youth leader C Sivarraajh.

In a press statement issued today, he described the ‘Keling’ is a derogatory word like pariah, nigger or cinaqui and it is very demeaning to Indians.

“In Mahathir’s speech, he did not only mentioned the word keling, but cracked a joke by using a Tamil word.

“This shows that he was well aware of what he was saying and openly offended the Indians.

“He should be the last one to use any form of racial derogation towards Indians.

“We know how Indians suffered under his 22 years rule.

“Now we know why?

“Because he always had disparaging remarks on Indian community as he  looked down on Indians as illiterate, uncivilised  and barbaric as well as refused to let us soar higher” he added.

Mahathir should immediately apologise for using such a derogatory words.

By referring the Indians as ‘keling’ Mahathir has done the Indian community a great disservice, pointed Sivarraajh.

“MIC president Dr Subramaniam has called for the ‘keling’ word ban in Malaysia during MIC AGM speech.

“Pemuda MIC urge Mahathir to seek public apology to Indians not only calling Indians ‘keling’ but for making us suffer through his biased and one sided government policies which has impacted Indians until now” added Sivarraajh.
