Former premier Mahathir Mohamad’s continuous U-turns have become embarrassing for the people to hear, said Prime Minister’s press secretary Tengku Sariffuddin.
Tengku Sariffuddin via a statement said “Malaysians could not believe anything told by Mahathir”.
“Mahathir is either lying for political expediency, or as the Sultan of Johor says, simply senile.
“The old tiger would serve himself and his nation better by retiring quietly,” said Tengku Sariffuddin
He said that Mahathir – now the de facto opposition leader – was once an Asian tiger who was feared by everyone because, “as he now admits, he was a dictator during his 22 years of power”.
To be in power, Mahathir toppled his political opponents, including by jailing his then deputy prime minister, Anwar Ibrahim, added Tengku Sariffuddin.
“Mahathir said the country could not have a prime minister who was homosexual. And he decided that Lim Kit Siang was so dangerous to the Malays that he had him jailed too.
“But the tiger is now old. Now he likes Kit Siang so much that he would allow this de facto leader of the opposition to be DPM.
“And all so that his son Mukhriz can be Prime Minister.
“Now Mahathir allies himself with Anwar and shakes his hand, so it seems he thinks it’s okay for a convicted homosexual sodomist to be a Malaysian leader,” said Tengku Sariffuddin.
“Mahathir’s U-turns are very strange… Is the tiger getting confused in his old age?” he ponders.
Tengku Sariffuddin continued to mock Mahathir by saying that even the Sultan of Johor was asking this about Mahathir now.
He pointed out that the Johor ruler last week had noted that a former leader referring to Mahathir without mentioning him by name was doing things totally different to what he had said and done in the past.
“If he is not forgetful, maybe he is a little senile,” the Johor ruler had said.
Tengku Sariffuddin said the sultan’s observations were demonstrated in Mahathir’s last blog post.
“In it he runs down his own country for personal political gain, saying that Malaysia is one of the 10 most corrupt countries in the world.
“In fact, in Transparency International’s latest list, Malaysia is the 55th least corrupt country in the world.
“So Mahathir is either lying, or he can no longer understand what is fact and what is fabricated.
“Otherwise why would he say Malaysia is in the top 10 most corrupt countries when it is in the top third least corrupt countries?,” questioned Tengku Sariffuddin.
Saying that Mahathir was embarrassing himself, Tengku Sariffuddin said it was best Mahathir retired quietly.
