“The lady doth protest too much, methinks,” is a quotation from the 1600 play, Hamlet, by William Shakespeare.
And methinks this must be precisely how Prime Minister Najib Razak feels about Mahathir Mohamad.
Mahathir protests too much, methinks.
Everything that Najib or the government does appears wrong, as far as Mahathir was concerned.
Nothing seems to be to Mahathir’s satisfaction.
Yes, there is definitely much rot in Malaysia and much needs to be improved.
But we must remember that rot does not happen overnight.
It takes a long time for rot to settle in.
Some of the rot is due to an accumulation of 30 years or more of bad government policies.
Najib has been prime minister for only eight years.
Has Mahathir forgotten that he made many bad decisions in his time?
Is not quite a bit of Najib’s inheritance actually the legacy that Mahathir left behind?
I can go on and on and write a thesis on this but suffice to say that the more Mahathir talks the more it reveals the mess he left behind for Najib to clean up.
