The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) confirmed it will be cooperating with Mara’s internal audit department to investigate allegations of corruption and abuse of power involving suspended Mara chairman Annuar Musa.

MACC in a statement today said they have opened an investigation paper on the matter.

The commission however stressed that their investigation would be focused on allegations of corruption and abuse of power with regard to Annuar’s involvement in the Kelantan Football Association (KAFA) sponsorships.

“The investigation into mismanagement will be done by Mara’s internal audit team,” MACC said.

It requested for all parties to refrain from making speculation on the investigation and to give MACC room to conduct their probe.

Rural and Regional Development Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob earlier said Annuar’s suspension as Mara Chairman is temporary pending an investigation by an internal audit committee.

Mara council members convened a meeting earlier today to appoint an internal audit committee to investigate several issues involving sponsorships by UniKL and PMB, as well as other issues which have gone viral on social media.

Pending the investigation, the council announced Annuar’s suspension, and Ismail Sabri said this was a normal procedure in any investigation.
