Let’s see, first the Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang wanted to debate Prime Minister Najib Razak and now he wants the prime minister to join the all but forgotten ‘Save Malaysia’ round table.
It is interesting when discussing this with a few people that the prevailing thought is that Kit Siang’s invitation was just another way to try and set up the prime minister.
Of course the idea is to put surgery frosting on the round table to make it appear to be other than what it was really designed for; to try and embarrass the prime minister.
There is very little or no doubt that the overall plan was not too well concealed trap where:
One: The prime minister and those in his cabinet do not attend.
Two: The prime minister and those in his cabinet do show up.
In scenario number one (1) where the prime minister does not attend; Kit Siang and the DAP-led opposition will cry out that the prime minister must have something to hide and that is why he was a no show.
However for Kit Siang is to harp on the Najib’s non-attendance means that the underlying plan was to make the round table about Prime Minister Najib and his administration and not some bipartisan effort to work against corruption.
In scenario number two (2) where the prime minister does attend, the plan is to bring up an issue like 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
Even though that topic has long since fizzled, Kit Siang and Mahathir Mohamad refused to let it go as that dead horse topic (1MDB) was the only ammo they had in their war arsenal.
Nevertheless, Kit Siang and Mahathir who would more than likely make another just so happen appearance. (here)
Remember Salleh Said Keruak saying that Kit Siang was not on the same level as Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and thereby does not deserve to debate with him.
Those words forced Kit Siang to look for another avenue in which he could try to debate the prime minister while trying not to look like he was the head of (which he is) Pakatan Harapan.
Kit Siang says that the round table offers the prime minister a “fresh start”.
A fresh start from what; as far as many can determine Prime Minister Najib is doing a good job.
In reality, Kit Siang’s sugar laced invite to Najib is no different than the ‘olive branch’ that he claimed to extend to PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and then a couple of days later contemplated taking legal action against him.
Another outcome that would Kit Siang would like to take place is for the prime minister to show up and then leave after being ambushed.
Both Kit Siang and Mahathir would then try and use that outcome as a desperate attempt to save their fledgling hope for the 14th general election (GE14).
Perhaps the round table could be used to discuss the BMF scandal or how the Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng could purchase property way below market value! – The Malaysian Observer Blog
