DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang’s recent statement makes it sound like the issue of who is going to be prime minister and deputy prime minister if Pakatan Harapan (PH) wins the election still in grey area.

Umno treasurer-general Salleh Said Keruak said Kit Siang should also explain if Anwar does not get pardoned and released.

It will be good to know Kit Siang’s backup or alternative plan.

“Kit Siang did not tell us whether this proposal for interim PM and DPM is based on consensus and has the agreement of all parties in Pakatan, including Mahathir’s Pribumi.

“Will this also apply in the event DAP wins the most number of parliament seats in GE14 and some of those who win are DAP’s Malay candidates?” he asked in his blog posting.

Salleh also questioned Kit Siang on what will happen if the King does not grant Anwar a pardon since he never applied for one.

“Will Anwar agree to apply for his pardon as this would be tantamount to an admission of guilt?

“Will the interim PM and DPM then continue to hold office indefinitely if Anwar fails to get pardoned and released?” Salleh questioned.

Salleh added that the entire process if Anwar granted a royal pardon was not so simple and would take time.

“Wan Azizah has to vacate her MP seat to give way to Anwar and there will be a by-election.

“When Anwar becomes the prime minister, he will choose his deputy since Muhyiddin is only an interim deputy,” he said.

Salleh said it was not clear who Anwar would choose at this stage.

Meanwhile, Umno supreme council member and Education Minister Mahdzir Khalid described Kit Siang’s proposal as unrealistic.

“It is absolutely unrealistic.

“Imagine Wan Azizah having to vacate her seat after Anwar gets the pardon from the King and having a by-election, which then has to be followed by many other processes.

“All these cannot be done in a short time,” he told reporters after a student convocation programme at a hotel in Alor Setar, Kedah today.

Local media reported that Kit Siang at a function in Penang recently had proposed that Wan Azizah and Muhyiddin Yassin be made interim prime minister and deputy prime minister respectively, should the opposition bloc win the GE14.
