Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has called on the police and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) to speed up probe into the alleged Open Society Foundation (OSF) funding for politically orientated local groups to topple the Barisan Nasional (BN) federal government.
He cautioned that pro-government movements like Red Shirts would continue their hostilite actions until and unless the alleged OSF financial links with local groups, like pro-opposition online portal Malaysiakini and the political group Yellow Shirt Bersih, were cleared.
OSF is linked to financier George Soros.
“So long as we don’t have certainty on the source of funds, then actions such as those by the Red Shirts will occur.
“The police and perhaps Bank Negara Malaysia should expedite their investigations.
“Until they can certify whether or not groups, including Malaysiakini, have received funds from OSF, we will not have any resolution to this,” said Khairy, who is also the BN and Umno national youth chief.
