Muslims have been urged to attend the Act 355 rally or Himpunan 355 to be held tomorrow at Padang Merbok.

Kelantan Umno Information Chief Md Alwi Che Ahmad was quoted by Sinar Harian as asking Muslims to set aside their political differences as this was a matter of upholding Islamic laws.

“Don’t think of PAS, Umno, PKR, instead keep in mind that Islam must be upheld, therefore Muslims must attend the rally,” Md Alwi said at Dataran Rehal in Kota Bharu, Kelantan.

Earlier this week, Bernama reported that PAS, the organiser of the rally, was expecting an attendance of up to 200,000.

The rally is set to begin at 2pm, with special prayers to be held in the evening.

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang earlier this morning flagged off a convoy of PAS Marang Youth members, heading for the rally tomorrow.

Abdul Hadi posted several photos of the flagging off event on his Facebook page Dato’ Seri Tuan Guru Haji Abdul Hadi Awang.

In a report by Harakah Daily yesterday, Kelantan Menteri Besar Ahmad Yakob expressed his hopes that the rally would run smoothly without any provocation.

He explained that the rally would be a combination of a peaceful gathering filled with religious talks, special prayers, Islamic entertainment as well as speeches, amongst others.

“I hope all those who attend will abide by the rules set by the organiser so the programme can proceed smoothly,” he was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, Kelantan state has declared a special holiday for Sunday to enable folks from the state to attend the programme and return home safely without having to rush.
