KUALA LUMPUR: The Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) project and its route is based on a series of discussions and comprehensive studies.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan, in a statement, yesterday said it covered technical aspects, alignment and also the viability of the project which has been agreed with the Singapore government.
“We take note of the issues raised by the Sultan of Johor (Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar) and will make an appointment to meet the Sultan immediately once the palace gives the date.
“Malaysia and Singapore will see better connectivity and accessibility with the completion of the RTS project by 2024,”he said.
He said apart from linking Johor Bahru and Singapore, the project would be able to reduce the congestion at the Causeway and save travel time via station to station connection along with an integrated Customs and Immigration checkpoint. – Bernama
