Jaringan Melayu Malaysia (JMM) has dragged former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s alleged illicit relationship with businesswoman Nika Ghee Siew Yee to Federal Territories Islamic Affairs department (Jawi).

Speaking to reporters, its president Azwanddin Hamzah said based on a statutory declaration revealed by Nika’s former husband Stanley Clement Augustin, the NGO is pushing the state religious affairs department to further probe on any alleged affair between Muhyiddin and Nika Gee.

Azwanddin said his NGO views the matter seriously and on behalf of the public is lodging the official complaint with Jawi.

He wants Jawi to investigate based on the provisions of Syariah law.

The official complaint was addressed to Jawi’s enforcement assistant director Wan Jaapar Wan Ahmad.

On September 6, the Kuala Lumpur High Court has formally dissolved the marriage of former deputy public prosecutor (DPP) Stanley and Nika Gee.

Allegations of the illicit relationship emerged when blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin posted a picture of the SD on news portal Malaysia Today.

The SD alleges that the affair between Gee and the politician began during the latter’s tenure as menteri besar and continued through his term as minister of two portfolios.

Augustin and Gee were married on April 24, 2007.
