Police are reportedly at the house of Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Md Yunos.
According to a report by The Star Online, Jamal’s secretary Durrany Izam was quoted as saying, “The police are outside the house.”
While Jamal is slated to have a press conference outside the Ampang police station at 3pm, the Red Shirts leader told The Star Online that he did not know why there were policemen outside his house.
“I had already made an appointment with the police and told them I will be at the police station by 3pm,” he had said, speaking to the newsportal from inside his house.
Saying he would cooperate with the police, the Red Shirts leader said he was prepared to be arrested as long as the issue of illegal gambling was addressed.
Earlier, newsportal Berita Daily reported that 12 men from Jamal’s Red Shirts movement were picked up by cops yesterday for unlawful raids on alleged illegal gambling spots in Ampang Jaya.
He also said that nine of the 12 have been remanded for six days.
Jamal meanwhile told the newsportal that the police were investigating his group for trespassing and theft.
He expressed his regret on the action taken by the police, adding that the gambling dens he had went to with his group along with some members from the press have not been closed.
“They are still operating. But we are being investigated for trespassing and theft,” he said.
