The police is still investigating Bersih leader Maria Chin’s case even though she has been released, said Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar.
He said Maria was released after police had gathered sufficient information from her under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma) provisions reported The Star online.
Under Sosma a person can be detained for 28 days.
The police have not closed Maria’s case and will present the investigation papers to the Attorney-General in one month.
Maria was released yesterday evening after a 10-day detention from the eve of Bersih 5 rally.
On the raid on Empower on Monday, the IGP said police was there to collect evidence and documents based on information that the organisation received funds from overseas as the women NGO is also Maria’s old office, he added.
