Reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton will start from pole position for Mercedes AMG Petronas team in the Malaysian Formula One (F1) Grand Prix today.
“Huge thank you to the team. This is the best the car has ever been here. Lap felt fantastic – but could have been faster!” said Hamilton after the qualifying session.
During the first qualifying (Q1), the Briton was leading the session and clocked his fastest lap time of 1:34.444s and continued to better his timing in Q2 with 1:33.046s.
He continued to stay on top in Q3 after storming with a time of 1:32.850s for his eighth pole position for this season.
It was also Hamilton’s 100th front row grid.
