MIC vice-president S.A Vigneswaran has invited former Padang Serai MP Gobalakrishnan Nagapan, to rejoin the party.
In a statement today, Vigneswaran said Gobalakrishnan had paid him a visit in which he suggested that the latter rejoin MIC.
“He is the former Padang Serai MP and also a member of the MIC youth in his earlier days.
“He knows how MIC works and the feelings of the grassroots as well as the needs of the Indians,” he said.
Vigneswaran said it would, therefore, be a blessing if Gobalakrishnan re-joined the party.
“It would be a win-win situation for his struggle as well as MIC’s struggle to uplift the Indian community.
“Everyone knows that he is very vocal and always stood his ground and is an aggressive leader when it comes to fighting for the rights of the people,” said the MIC leader.
Vigneswaran added that it was now up to Gobalakrishnan to make a comeback and work with the party to bring back its glory days.
“I hope he would seriously consider this and come back to the party and take up a branch.”
“The party president S. Subramaniam wants everyone to come back into the party and close ranks,” he said adding that Subramaniam would welcome Gobalakrishnan’s return to the party.
“The differences between the leaders are secondary and not important.
“What is more important is working together to uplift the community and Gobalakrishnan’s reunion in MIC will further strengthen this cause,” he said.
Gobalakrishnan joined MIC in 1985 and quit the party in 1998.
He joined PKR in 1999 and contested in Padang Serai, Kedah in the 12th General Election defeating MCA’s Boey Chin Gan.
Subsequently, he left PKR in January 2011.
