Subra has directed all government hospitals to do fire audit.

The Health ministry will conduct a ‘fire audit’ on all hospitals starting with the oldest and prone to high risk.

Health minister S Subramaniam said this is necessary to prevent incidents like Tuesday’s blaze at the Hospital Sultanah Aminah in Johor

The hospitals and concessionaires have to set up a committee to look at how to manage a fire if it happens including an evacuation plan, told this when meeting the reporters at the Parliament lobby yesterday.

He said the ministry would also check for any differences in fire safety practices between public and private hospitals.

His ministry will also look into the aging assets based on urgency and funding

Subramaniam also directed the special committee set up by his ministry to investigate the cause of the fire as soon as possible.
