SINGAPORE: Have cravings for nasi lemak? The traditional breakfast delicacy has “evolved” recently, with even a cake version.
Now, fast-food giant McDonald’s has launched the Nasi Lemak Burger in conjunction with the Singapore Food Festival 2017, which will be available from today.
According to Channel News Asia, the special menu was inspired by local delicacies, which also includes chendol.
The Nasi Lemak Burger consists of a coconut-flavoured chicken thigh patty, fried egg, caramelised onions and cucumber slices topped with sambal sauce and served between semolina buns.
Unfortunately, it won’t be available in Malaysia so adventurous foodies will have to make a pit stop to our southern neighbour.
The Chendol McFlurry contains chendol jelly bits and gula melaka sauce with vanilla soft serve ice-cream, coconut pie wth nata de coco bits, three types of chendol ice-cream cones – chendol melaka cone, chendol melaka twist and chendol melaka chococone – as well as kueh salat cake, a pandan sponge cake with a glutinous rice layer.
It will also serve up Bandung McFizz and Pandan Coco Frappe, which blends coconut and pandan flavours with grass jelly.
