Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has not resigned from any of his top posts.
His political secretary Megat Firdouz Megat Junid said the rumours claiming the minister had resigned as minister, Umno national youth leader or Rembau MP were false.
Rumours were going viral in social media for past couple of days claiming that Khairy had relinquished his cabinet post and other positions with immediate effect.
The rumours also claimed that Khairy supporters, including those who had graduated from Oxford University, were currently gathering in Putrajaya.
Megat Firdouz called on the public to be more careful with such viral messages and hoped that his clarification would eliminate all doubts on the matter.
On Wednesday, Puteri Umno vice-chief Zahida Zarik Khan also refuted a fake viral message on social media claiming that she would soon resign from her post.
She claimed that the message about an invitation to a press conference that was being spread on social media had the malicious intent to harm her reputation as the national Puteri Umno vice-chief.
Prior to that, a fake letter purportedly sent out by Deputy Prime Minsiter and Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi went viral.
Contents of the fake letter suggested that Zahid was plotting an internal coup to overthrow Najib.
